Do we bring baggage from one life into the next?
During a telephone interview Dennis Potter had with actor Will Hutchins (who portrayed the character, Chowhound, in Jeff Chandler's last movie, Merrill's Marauders), Mr. Hutchins told Dennis something about Jeff Chandler that isn't included in Jeff Chandler; a book limited in its size by the publisher, initially, to about 175 pages. While on location in the Philippines for the filming of Merrill’s Marauders, Jeff Chandler and Will Hutchins shared a common bathroom. One day, Hutchins accidentally walked in on Chandler when he was using the facilities. Mr. Hutchins, noticing that Chandler’s feet were rather dark and blackened, thought: ‘What’s up with that, Jeff? Poor circulation?’ As Dennis listened to Mr. Hutchins, Dennis sat at his desk, his head supported by his left arm, his eyes focused down where Dennis could see quite clearly his own rather darkened and blackened feet, the result of poor circulation following chemotherapy.
